Dr. Roettger completed his undergraduate work in 2002 from the University of Regina receiving bachelor
degrees in both mathematics and computer science. He remained in Regina for his master’s work; doing
research on Lucas functions under the supervision of Dr. Richard McIntosh. He then went on to complete
his doctorate at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Hugh Williams and Dr. Siguna
Muller.
Dr. Roettger joined MRU in 2009 and in 2025 he obtained the rank of full professor. Currently, he is cross
appointed between the departments of General Education and Mathematics and Computing. He works in
the areas of elementary number theory, computational number theory, and cryptography; in particular Dr.
Roettger enjoys a good integer sequence.
