MRU Now is the official mobile safety app of Mount Royal University

Download the app on your mobile device to receive urgent notifications about campus emergencies, report safety concerns or incidents, connect with Security Services, request Safe Walk, and more.

Enable push notifications in the MRU Now app:

  1. Open MRU Now
  2. Tap Preferences/About
  3. Tap Notification Settings
  4. Tap Enable Notifications

 

MRU Now push notifications are sent:

  • When there is an emergency on campus and include what action(s) to take, when required
  • When there are time-sensitive events, such as power outages, poor weather conditions on campus, or other disruptions
  • To supplement other communication channels during fire alarms and drills
    • Emergency information may also be communicated through the campus alarm and mass communication system, desktop alerts, digital signage and social media

 

Other App Features:

 A note about Android app Hibernation and iOS app Offloading: 

  • Starting with Android 11, if a user does not interact with an app for a few months, the app will automatically be placed in a hibernation state by the operating system. Use this guide to disable app Hibernation and to ensure you continue receving MRU Now notifications. 
  • iOS 11 introduced a feature that will “offload” unused apps if device storage becomes low. Use this guide to disable app Offloading and to ensure you continue receving MRU Now notifications.

 

Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy

The personal information that you provide to Mount Royal University is collected under the authority of the Post-Secondary Learning Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act - Section 33(c). The information will be used for the purpose of using the MRU Now mobile app, including receiving emergency push notifications and any other push notifications that you subscribe to in the app. These notifications are sent by Mount Royal University.Collected personal information is protected from unauthorized access, collection, use, and disclosure in accordance with the FOIP Act and can be reviewed upon request subject to the provisions under the Act.
