Convocation Attendance

Convocation Attendance

Due to the current Public Health Order restrictions in place for indoor events, Mount Royal University has made the difficult decision to defer the Fall 2021 Convocation ceremony to Spring 2022. This deferral includes all associated Convocation events to be held during that week. Further details about the Spring 2022 Convocation ceremony will be shared as they are known.

 Before the ceremony

If you meet all graduation requirements for your program and your Convocation Attendance form has been received, there is little that you need to do leading up to Convocation day. Once you have filled out your applications to graduate and attend convocation we will be in contact with further information.

Convocation day
What do I wear? Graduates are encouraged to dress in business casual attire or rent regalia through Gaspard.  Regalia will not be required for the Spring 2021 Convocation ceremonies, though graduates are welcome to rent their own and wear it to the ceremony.
When should I arrive? Graduates should arrive on campus no later than one hour prior to the ceremony. Even with submission of the Convocation Attendance form, Mount Royal cannot guarantee ceremony inclusion if you arrive after the scheduled ceremony start time.
Where do I park? Upon arrival, students will be directed to Lot 2 with overflow in Lot 1 and will be directed to the appropriate parking location.

What happens at the ceremony? Ceremonies are approximately two hours in duration. You and your guests are asked to remain in your vehicle until the conclusion of the ceremony. The ceremony will begin with speeches and presentations of special awards, followed by you, the graduates having your names read.
