Convocation Attendance

Convocation Attendance

Each graduand must first apply to graduate and then complete a Convocation attendance form. There are important deadlines associated with each application.

Ceremony Times

This year Convocation ceremonies will not be organized by faculty. Instead, you can choose which date and time you prefer based on a first-come first-served basis. If there is a large student demand, a fourth ceremony will be added on the afternoon of November 6, 2020 at 2 p.m.

Please RSVP using the following links:

Wednesday, November 4 - 2.p.m.

Thursday, November 5 – 2 p.m.

Friday, November 6 – 10 a.m.

Please note, you must be signed in with your MRU Gmail account to access the RSVP forms.

Preparing to attend Convocation

If you meet all graduation requirements for your program and your Convocation Attendance form has been received, there is little that you need to do leading up to Convocation day.

Please RSVP using the following links:

Wednesday, November 4 - 2.p.m.

Thursday, November 5 – 2 p.m.

Friday, November 6 – 10 a.m.

Please note, you must be signed in with your MRU Gmail account to access the RSVP forms.

We respect that Convocation is a day to celebrate with friends and family; however, due to the capacity of our parking lots, guest attendance will be limited to one vehicle per student

Lifetouch Photography is the official graduation photographer for Mount Royal University. There will be an opportunity to have graduation photographs taken on campus. In addition, Lifetouch will be available for graduates on Convocation day on a first come, first served basis.

Convocation day

Graduates should arrive on campus no later than one hour prior to the ceremony.

Even with submission of the Convocation Attendance form, Mount Royal cannot guarantee ceremony inclusion if you arrive after the scheduled ceremony start time.

All graduates will wear a navy blue gown and cap. You will also wear a coloured hood that is specific to your program of study. Graduation gowns usually hang just below the knees. Beneath the gown, most graduands wear business casual attire.

Upon arrival, students will be directed to complimentary parking for them and their guests in the appropriate parking location.

Signage and volunteers will direct your vehicle to the appropriate parking location.

Once you have filled out your applications to graduate and attend convocation we will be in contact with further information.

Ceremonies are approximately two and a half hours in duration. You and your guests are asked to remain in your vehicle until the conclusion of the ceremony.

The ceremony will begin with speeches and presentations of special awards, followed by you, the graduates having their name read.

Alumni Relations will provide information in your graduation package on how to purchase photographs.

After the ceremony
