This year, MRU Academic Integrity Days will take place on October 8 + 9 on Main Street and at East Gate. These dates have been chosen in lieu of the International Day of Action for Academic Integrity on October 15, which occurs during reading week.

Academic Integrity and Misconduct: Where’s the Line?

Can you confidently draw the line between academic integrity and academic misconduct? Pop by the display on Main Street and East Gate to discuss a few common (and tricky!) scenarios to decide which actions would constitute academic misconduct.

The Ethical Scholar

What values inform your decisions in academic writing? Visit the Library's table on Main Street and at East Gate to play a matching game connecting the values of academic integrity to situations you will face as a scholar. There will be prizes!

Academic Integrity Contest

Why are honesty and integrity important to the MRU community? Why are honesty and integrity important to you as a student? Visit the Office of Student Community Standards (OSCS) table on Main Street and East Gate to learn more about the contest, and how to submit your creative interpretation of why integrity is important to you. Prizes for contest submissions!

When it comes to Academic Integrity on campus, our values include honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage. Come speak to us at the Good Human table on Main Street and East Gate to learn how these values can help foster an environment on campus where kindness and mutual respect guide all interactions, aiding community members to care about one another as human beings. International Day of Action for Academic Integrity (Oct. 15)

Think before you Upload: What Faculty and Students Need to Know About Academic File-Sharing Sites and AI Platforms

This workshop explores the intersection between third-party academic file-sharing websites and generative AI tools, including “Checker” and “detector” tools, focusing on implications for data privacy, intellectual property, and academic integrity. Faculty will gain practical insights into how these tools collect and use data, the implications for student work, and strategies to address these integrity challenges in their courses.

This 60-minute self-paced module in D2L will strengthen your understanding of why academic integrity is vital to our MRU community, explain how it’s defined in the MRU policy, and help you feel more confident when making decisions related to your academic work.
