SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training) is a peer-led support meeting that utilizes an evidence-informed recovery method grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), that supports people with substance use or process and behavioural addictions.

Through the use of CBT and REBT, SMART Recovery supports individuals to:

  1. Build and maintain motivation
  2. Cope with urges and cravings
  3. Manage thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
  4. Live a balanced life

MRU Recovery Community offers SMART Recovery meetings from January 12 to April 23, 2026 on the following days and times:

  • Every Monday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the SAMRU Council Chambers (Z222 or up the stairs by Edo)
  • Every Thursday from 4 PM to 5:00 PM in Room U216A (Wellness Services).

These meetings are intended for individuals who are in, or currently seeking recovery from, addiction or process and behavioural addiction.
