Ila Gajendran completed a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Calgary and is currently pursuing a Nurse Practitioner degree at Athabasca University. Ila is certified in Gerontological Nursing through the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), and is currently completing a Simulation Fellowship. With over 22 years of nursing experience and more than 12 years in nursing education, Ila brings expertise in acute care, gerontology, simulation, and clinical instruction. Ila actively integrates case-based learning, simulation, and experiential teaching strategies to support meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Ila is committed to helping students connect theory to practice while developing the clinical reasoning, communication, and leadership skills necessary to provide safe, evidence-informed, patient-centred care. Through a supportive and inclusive teaching approach, Ila strives to foster confidence, critical thinking, and professional growth while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and quality care.
