It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the passing of Mount Royal University’s director of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Paula Price, PhD, on January 23, 2019.

She asked us to share this message after she died.

It has been my honour and privilege to serve as the Director of the School. I appreciate everyone I have encountered in my long career at MRU and am saddened it is ending now and so quickly.

Paula Price
Director, School of Nursing and Midwifery, 2016 – 2019
Faculty, Mount Royal University, 1995 – 2019

Paula said being the director of the School of Nursing and Midwifery for the past two and a half years was her dream job.

In her 24 years at Mount Royal, Paula was an instructor and coordinator in the Advanced Studies in Critical Care Nursing Certificate Program; acting chair; and then Director, School of Nursing and Midwifery.

She completed her undergraduate degree in nursing at Queen's University and her Master of Nursing and PhD at the University of Calgary. Paula worked in several critical care units and had a particular interest in cardiovascular critical care. She pursued her scholarship interests, which included being the editor for the Canadian Journal of Critical Care Nursing and the Canadian Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing and the Director of Publications for the Canadian Council of Cardiovascular Nurses.

Paula made a deep, lasting and broad impact at Mount Royal, in the nursing and midwifery community, and with past and current students. Paula’s legacy will live on in the work we do and in the students we teach.

DonationsIn lieu of flowers or gifts, Paula’s family asks you to consider donating to a scholarship in her name that will go to Mount Royal students in the Advanced Studies in Critical Care Nursing Certificate, specifically the Intensive Care Unit stream.
