Helena has been teaching undergraduate students for thirty years at MRU while continuing her clinical practice in the community, focused on primary care as a Nurse Practitioner. Her passion in practice and academia concerns mental health and addiction as special interest topics in health care and within the broader community. Clinical work has taken her beyond Canada and into Canadian Indigenous communities, where her aims have always been in developing collaborative relationships with community members.
Areas of Instruction
Teaching in all years of the Bachelor of Nursing program, her specialized focus in mental health and addiction has led her to develop courses in General Education that focus on addiction and addiction responses in our communities.
