Fee payment options
Learn more about the different ways you can pay your fees.
Mount Royal offers several ways to pay your fees. Choose the option that works best for you and make sure your deposits, tuition and mandatory fees are paid by the posted deadlines.
Domestic undergraduate students | International students | Sponsored students | Residence | Paying with RESPs
Domestic undergraduate students
There are two options to pay your fees online. You can either pay by online banking or by credit card.
Online banking
- Log in to your bank’s website
- Add ‘Mount Royal University - Tuition’ as a new payee. The payee name may vary by bank.
- Enter your MRU student ID number 201XXXXXX as your Mount Royal account number.
If you prefer to use your bank’s telephone banking service, you would follow the same process as above.
Important: processing takes time. Don't worry!
Allow two to three business days for bank processing. If you pay on or before the deadline, your payment will be honoured and you will not be deregistered from your courses.
Credit card
Pay by credit card through Mount Royal’s online payment platform, Plastiq.
Make an online credit card payment
Important: processing times and deadline-day payments
Allow three business days for processing. If you pay on the fee deadline, Plastiq may not offer same-day processing. Choose the next available payment date. Your payment will still be honoured, and you will not be deregistered from your courses.
International students payment options
CIBC International Student Pay
This is the preferred payment method for international students. CIBC International Student Pay is a secure online portal that allows international students to make payments in their local currency. The quote and payment instructions you receive are good for 72 hours, excluding weekends. There are no processing fees from CIBC or Mount Royal University.
Your Mount Royal University Student ID is required.
Eligible payments include:
- Full-year tuition and fees
- Residence fees
To get a quote and payment instructions:
- Select the country you are paying from and how much you want to transfer to Mount Royal.
- Review the quote to see what the exchange amount will be.
- Complete the required information.
- You will receive detailed instructions and a reference code to deliver to your local bank within 72 hours, excluding weekends.
- Your bank will send the funds to Mount Royal through wire transfer.
Important: payment processing timelines
Payments will typically take two to five business days to be reflected on your student fee account.
Due to the sanctions imposed by Canada, payments from the following countries are not accepted through CIBC International Student Pay at this time: Burma, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Libya, Syria, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.

Make an online credit card payment
Pay by mail
Money orders are the only acceptable form of payment by mail.
Personal cheques, post-dated payments and international money orders are not accepted. Do not send cash in the mail.

Sponsored students
If you are a sponsored student and have been approved to have your tuition and mandatory fees billed to a third party, such as an employer or sponsoring agency, you must ensure that all proper documentation is forwarded to Financial Services before each fee deadline.
Important deadline information
All sponsorship forms or letters must be submitted to studentspons@mtroyal.ca no later than seven days before the term fee deadline.
Letters or forms submitted after this date may put the student at risk of being deregistered during the fee deadline.

Paying your fees with RESPs
If you are withdrawing funds from a Registered Education Savings Plan, you will be required to obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment. Learn more.
Additional unofficial documentation can be accessed at no charge, 24/7 through your MyMRU account and may provide the information you require. This includes:
