ResNET Internet

Residence - Residents in Room with Laptop

We work closely with Rogers Communications to provide you fast and reliable Internet for work and play in Residence.

Wireless Internet

Residence's wireless network uses WiFi 6 technology.

For information on how to connect, please review the ResNET FAQ page

Wired Internet

The Ethernet wall ports in all bedrooms and living rooms are enabled for wired connections. In West Residence, only one port is active in each bedroom.

For the convenience of everyone, please do not plug in a wireless router. Personal wireless routers significantly and negatively impact Residence's wireless network.

Connected devices

In order to provide privacy and security, the wireless network has been set up so that two devices cannot communicate with each other. Also, setting up your own wireless network will cause interference with ResNET, which leads to a slow connection for everyone. We strongly encourage the use of the wired network (Ethernet) for devices unable to connect to the the wireless network.

Wireless printers

Wireless printers cannot connect to ResNET. Please use a USB-printer cable to connect any printer to your computer. USB printer cables (type A to B) are available for free at the Front Desk in West Residence Building B. Be sure to disable the wireless mode on your printer so that it does not interfere with the wireless network.

Game consoles, Smart TVs and media streaming devices

Game consoles, smart TVs and other media streaming devices (for example: Roku Stick, Chromecast) require a special connection. Please review our ResNET FAQ page for more informatin.

Wireless routers

Wireless routers are not permitted in Residence because they cause significant interference with the wireless network.
