 Nicola Williams is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Child Studies and Social Work. Nicola has extensive experience working with individuals, communities and organizations to examine complex social, environmental and economic issues across diverse contexts. Her teaching is grounded in the belief that students are active collaborators in their learning experience, bringing valuable knowledge, perspectives and lived experience into theclassroom. This undergirds her commitment to creating learning environments that encourage curiosity, critical reflection, dialogue and shared knowledge building. Nicola is interested in challenging the traditional boundaries between researcher and participant, educator and student and, knowledge and action. Her teaching and researc aim to contribute to the examination of the intersection of lived experiences, the natural environment and transformative praxis. Her work is informed by a commitment to research approaches and teaching that are participatory, action oriented and responsive to the communities and people involved.
