Community Engaged Research Recognition Lunch

To kick off Research and Scholarship Days, Mount Royal University will be highlighting community engaged researchers during this celebratory lunch. During this plated lunch, researchers across MRU will present their research and how they engage with communities throughout the research process.

University-wide Student Poster Research Presentations

Check out all of our participating students’ posters or creative works showcasing their research. Students can learn more about poster submission guidelines on the student info page. Students participating in the University-wide Poster Presentation event will have their posters adjudicated. Top scoring presenters will be awarded certificates in recognition of their achievement and be featured in a profile discussing their research. Past research award winners and their research can be seen here

Faculty of Science and Technology Keynote: “Acting on Equity in the Academy: From Rhetoric to Real Change”
Please join the Faculty of Science & Technology for our keynote presentation by Dr. Lloy Wylie and Associate Professor in the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. The keynote aims to provide tools for scientists hoping to integrate principles of equity, diversity and inclusion into their research and teaching. Through exploring ways that the social determinants of health shape the population health, Dr. Wylie will share some of the challenges universities have in advancing the agenda of equity. This interactive workshop will engage the audience in dialogue about ways we rethink our assumptions about science and knowledge. Participants will be provided with strategies to support researchers and educators to question their assumptions and integrate new forms of knowledge in ways that advance equity, diversity and inclusion in our scholarship and teaching.

Anthropology Honours Proposal Presentation

Join us in this open event to hear Charlie Hodges introduce her Anthropology Honours thesis project. This research uses an archaeological collection from the Netherlands to investigate if photodensitometry, a method that measures optical brightness on X-Ray images, can be reliably used to investigate bone loss in hand bones.

Social Innovation Lab Showcase

In groups of 3-5 students, our four Introduction to Social Innovation classes worked on a series of wicked questions and systems maps for their end of term social innovation lab project. At the showcase, each group's work will be on display, and the top 3 groups nominated to represent each class will also present highlights from their systems map, wicked question, theory of change and their potential solution to the complex problem explored.

JMH LaunchPad Pitch Competition Finals

The JMH LaunchPad Competition is one of MRU's biggest events of the year. Students and recent alumni from across campus pitch their venture to a panel of esteemed judges and a supportive audience. The most promising ventures will walk away with their share of $70k in cash prizes and in-kind services.

Map the System: MRU Campus Final

Map the System challenges students to use a systems-thinking approach to practice changemaking by demonstrating a deep understanding of a complex social or environmental challenge. The top undergraduate student teams from across the MRU campus will provide a 10-minute presentation of their findings, followed by Q&A from judges.

Research Revealed Conference 2024

Research Revealed is a full day undergraduate conference for students in kinesiology, physical education, sports studies, exercise science, recreation and leisure studies or other related areas of study.

This year's event will be hosted by Mount Royal University. The day will incorporate keynote presentations from a professor at each participating university as well as student presentations and posters.

Get QriTical Student Colloquium

QriTical: queer + trans research hub is hosting the first "Get QriTical" Student Colloquium on April 5th. "Get QriTical" will feature 2SLGBTQIA+ student research, writing, creative work, and student organizing and community work. In addition to two student panels, the colloquium will feature a digital display of student work and a virtual "fireside chat" with multi-disciplinary Vivek Shraya. Lunch and refreshments will be served. This event is supported by the EDI Opportunity Fund.
