Mount Royal not impacted by Canvas incident
Mount Royal University is aware of a cybersecurity incident affecting several Canadian universities involving the Canvas learning management system. Mount Royal does not use Canvas and is not currently affected by this incident. Information Technology Services (ITS) continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
Required hardware update for MRU-managed computers
ITS is applying a required BIOS update to university-managed Windows computers. If you have not yet completed the update, please do so as soon as possible to avoid unexpected interruptions.
Starting Tuesday, May 12, ITS will begin a randomized mandatory push to remaining devices. Your computer may update automatically and restart during the process. Devices not updated in advance may experience interruptions at unpredictable times.
What to expect:
- 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
- Wired network on-campus connection required.
- Multiple restarts may occur.
- We recommend running the update at the end of your workday.
