AARCS is a leading animal welfare organization built on compassion and kindness. They rescue and rehome animals in need across Alberta and provide community support programs. Their mission is to help homeless animals and address the root causes of animal overpopulation.
Between Friends provides inclusive social and recreational programs for children, youth, and adults with disabilities in Calgary and Red Deer. Volunteers support activities, build friendships, and foster a welcoming environment. Opportunities include summer camp, weekly programs, and special events.
CADS Calgary provides skiing and snowboarding opportunities for individuals with disabilities through volunteer instructors. Each student is paired with volunteer instructors who provide personalized one-on-one coaching. Volunteers must be comfortable on skis or snowboard at WinSport Canada Olympic Park. Training begins in November with an 8-week lesson program starting in January.
CCASA is the primary sexual violence crisis, counselling and education service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. For over 30 years, they have supported communities in addressing sexual violence and its complex impact on individuals, families and communities. They provide free, confidential services and education programs.
The Calgary Folk Music Festival highlights upstart and iconic artists from around the globe on eight stages over four days. Over 1,600 community volunteers help build and produce this annual event that draws 53,000 attendees. The Festival has been a Calgary tradition since 1980.
Calgary Humane Society is an animal shelter in SE Calgary helping thousands of animals and people every year. They believe in inclusive animal welfare where every animal, every person, and every situation is welcome.
The Calgary Philharmonic has been bringing communities together through music for seven decades. They present over 60 concerts per season and welcome over 100,000 visitors annually. The Calgary Phil includes 66 full-time orchestra musicians and a volunteer chorus of over 140 singers.
Distress Centre Calgary provides 24-hour crisis support, professional counselling, and 211 referrals to community resources at no cost. They offer support by phone, text or chat with all conversations kept confidential. ConnecTeen provides youth-focused peer support from 3-10pm weekdays and 12-10pm weekends.
Girl Guides of Canada provides a safe space where every girl is empowered to be everything she wants to be. As a girl-driven organization, girls are given choice, voice and the scope to take action in a fun, friendship-based environment. With over 100 years of history, GGC ensures that girls and women from all walks of life feel a sense of belonging.
Highbanks supports pregnant and parenting youth through community, education, and trauma-informed care. For over 22 years, they have offered subsidized housing, food security support, counseling, and parenting education. Their comprehensive services help young mothers create better futures for themselves and their children.
Hospice Calgary provides compassionate support and exceptional care during advanced illness, end-of-life, and grief. They operate three centres of care dedicated to helping people find hope and well-being.
Hull Services partners with young people and families to build resilience for a brighter tomorrow. The Mentors Matter program matches adult volunteers with young people who need positive influences. Mentors receive training and support to help youth develop confidence and life skills.
JFSC provides social services based on compassion, social justice and community improvement. They offer counseling, seniors' support, immigrant assistance, and family programs to people of all faiths and cultures. Their services promote dignity, self-sufficiency, and well-being for everyone.
Kids Cancer Care offers wrap-around services for families at each stage of the cancer journey. Programs include camp, therapeutic exercise, tutoring, child life, and counselling services at no cost to families. Volunteers work on the front lines and behind the scenes with flexible schedules for all lifestyles.
Kinder Studios Academy was founded by a local family in 2019, dedicated to creating an inclusive environment focused on the well-being of both children and families. This holistic approach to childcare prioritizes children's well-being alongside family needs. Their commitment creates an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and supported.
Radiance empowers women and children to heal, grow, and thrive in safe, nurturing environments. As Calgary's only pet-friendly second-stage shelter, they provide housing, counselling, and parenting support for families affected by violence. Their trauma-informed Children's Centre serves children aged 19 months to 5 years.
Renfrew Educational Services is a designated Special Education School serving children with significant disabilities since 1974. They welcome families and children with diagnoses including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Global Development Delays. Renfrew serves 550 children annually across four school locations.
The Students' Association of Mount Royal University (SAMRU) is a membership-based organization that represents and serves Mount Royal University students to help them succeed. All credit students at Mount Royal University are members of SAMRU.
The SHARP Foundation's Beswick House supports up to 10 individuals with complex health needs. They offer case management, nursing care, recreation, meals and advocacy with a strong harm reduction focus. Care is individualized and holistic.
Wood's Homes has been a mental health centre since 1914, providing care and support for over 15,000 children, young people, adults and families annually. They build good mental health and well-being so everyone can thrive in their community. Volunteers are needed at Inglewood Opportunity Hub and Eastside Community Mental Health Services.
YMCA Calgary has been serving the community since 1902 with health and wellness programs, child care, and camps. They operate six health facilities, six child development centres, two outdoor camp sites and dozens of community program sites. Their mission is to connect people through diverse shared experiences in welcoming, inspiring spaces.
Youth Thrive empowers equity-deserving youth aged 15-30 through volunteer service, mentorship, and career development. The program offers flexible 120-hour placements with nonprofit organizations plus professional development workshops. Participation is free with wraparound supports like meal and transportation assistance available across Canada.
