Miao Li completed her B.A. in French from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 2004 before moving to Canada to pursue her graduate studies. She then received both her M.A. (2006) and PhD (2013) in French Literature from Queen's University, Kingston. Her research interests include women's writing in the 17th and 18th century French literature, alterity and the image of China and Chinese in the 18th century French novels. She has published articles in French-Chinese translation, women's agency in La Princesse de Clèves, and presented her research at several conferences such as APFUCC and Colloque international et interdisciplinaire de jeunes chercheurs en études sur les XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles.
Between 2004 and 2013, Miao taught mainly French communication and culture courses (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels) in Queen's. She also had one year's experience teaching French grammar and literature course. She joined Mount Royal University as a part-time Faculty in January 2014, and has since taught FREN1109 and 1111. Being a native Chinese speaker, she also teaches G12 Chinese at Calgary Chinese School/Sino Canada Culture Association.
