Mo Farrokhi is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in MRU’s Bissett School of Business and a scholar-practitioner in branding, digital marketing, and go-to-market strategy. Over the past 15 years I’ve worked across tech, consumer, and B2B sectors, leading marketing strategy in startups, mid-sized firms, and public companies. Most recently, he led Marketing & Product at Exro Technologies (technology company in electric vehicle power electronics and battery energy storage), helping scale the company from early-stage startup. Beyond cleantech, Mo has worked across consumer products and B2B firms giving him a broad, systems-level perspective. He builds data-driven programs and integrates AI into marketing operations.

Mo holds a PhD from the University of Calgary on customer-based brand equity, engagement, and value co-creation. He previously taught Marketing and Product courses at Haskayne and was nominated for the Students’ Union Teaching Excellence Award. He also founded Ostadio, an academic platform for Farsi-speaking students with 30,000+ registered users built and grown mainly through SEO and organic content and runs a Calgary agency piloting AI-driven marketing.

At MRU, he brings applied, student-first teaching grounded in real cases and experimentation. Current interests include branding, co-creation of value with customers, AI adoption in marketing teams and classrooms, experiential learning, and case development linking cleantech commercialization and SMB digital transformation.

Selected honours include C.B. Locke Award in Leadership, R.A. Wilson Management Scholarship, American Marketing Association Branding Track Best Paper, and Student Union’s Teaching Excellence nomination at University of Calgary.
