BIOGRAPHY 

After gaining several years of experience in the banking industry and completing an MBA, Ahmed began his academic career in 2016, driven by a strong passion for teaching. He served as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) until mid-2021. Following his time in academia in Bangladesh, Ahmed worked on a year-long project with the Google training team in Toronto. 

After completing his MSc in Finance at Queen’s University, Ahmed moved to Calgary and began teaching economics at SAIT. In 2024, he joined Mount Royal University as a Sessional Instructor and transitioned into a full-time Senior Lecturer (Finance) role in January 2026. Ahmed brings extensive experience in teaching undergraduate finance courses, including corporate finance, financial markets and institutions, stock markets, and behavioral finance. Ahmed teaches across in-person and online formats, emphasizing applied learning and active student engagement. Ahmed’s most recent research focuses on corporate governance, with particular emphasis on proxy voting. His broader research interests include behavioral finance and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics.
