Emergency Funding & Resources
Mount Royal’s Emergency Bursary
Mount Royal’s Emergency Bursary is a non-repayable bursary for full-time or part-time students who have encountered an urgent, unforeseen occurrence requiring immediate financial support that is not available from other resources. This Bursary is not available to cover tuition and fees.
Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Emergency Bursary:
- You must be currently enrolled in the semester in which you are applying for the Emergency Bursary
- You must provide details regarding the financial difficulty you are experiencing
- You must provide details of your monthly expenses and income
- You must provide supporting documentation (e.g. copy of an outstanding bill in your name, receipts, etc)
Apply online for the Emergency Bursary. The application closes at the end of each semester, and reopens after the add/drop deadline of the upcoming semester.
Students' Association of MRU (SAMRU)
SAMRU offers a range of financial security programs that are available to all credit students. Visit their website for additional information on discounted bus tickets, emergency funding, and more.
Early Support Program
The Early Support program creates a space for students to learn about and get connected to relevant resources on and off-campus.
211
211 is an essential service that helps Albertans find the right resource or service for whatever issue they need help with, including financial difficulties. 211 is available 24/7 by phone, text and chat. The service is free, confidential and available in over 170 languages over the phone.
The Calgary Food Bank
The Calgary Food Bank is the first line of emergency food support for families and individuals facing crisis. Once the food emergency is addressed, they refer food bank clients to partner agencies and programs.
