PREPARING FOR
YOUR FINAL
EXAMS
Here's what you need to know to be ready for your final exams.
If you have a final exam scheduled in the Triple Gym (U170), here's what you need to know.
Before your exam
- Know what you need to bring so you arrive prepared for your exam. Check with your instructor about what you can and cannot bring into the exam area. For example, specific courses may require a scientific calculator, textbook, etc.
- If you forget your calculator, check with the Library to borrow one.
- Review your exam schedule in MyMRU> My Program>Final exam schedule to determine which rows have been allocated to your class and which section you will be seated in.
- If you wish to study on campus before your exam, please do so in designated study spaces. Do not gather outside the Recreation entrance.
Day of exam
- You can arrive up to 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time. Enter the examination area through the upstairs concourse and proceed to the track level of the gym (U270). An elevator is available for those who require alternative accessibility. If you arrive early, please wait on the main concourse upstairs, as you will not be admitted earlier.
- When you enter the gym, please remove your coat and backpack and ensure your cell phone is turned off and left with your belongings. While we encourage you to leave your valuables at home or in a locker, tables will be available at the gym entrance where you may leave your items at your own risk.
- Find the rows labelled along the back wall and an open seat in your assigned row.
- A video on exam housekeeping (e.g. in case of emergency) will be shown on projectors before each exam starts.
- You are permitted to leave the examination room only after 30 minutes have passed from the start of the exam.
During your exam
- You will be given instructions on when you can start and stop writing your exam. If you have any questions, please raise your hand, and your professor will be happy to help you. This includes requests to leave the exam room during the exam if you fall ill or need to use the restroom.
- Avoid the following actions, as they may be considered academic misconduct: speaking or communicating with other students, leaving answer papers exposed for others to view, attempting to read other students’ exam papers, or bringing unauthorized materials (such as books or electronic devices) into the exam room.
After your exam
- Hand your exam in to your professor.
- Remember to take your ID card and belongings with you.
- Exit quietly and leave the Recreation area immediately. You may exit directly outdoors. Do not go upstairs or gather outside the triple gym.
