Ensure you've activated your MyMRU account

You must activate your MyMRU account before you can register for courses.

Find your Registration Access Date

Your Registration Access Date is the first day you can register for classes for a specific semester. Starting the first Monday in March, find your potential registration access date by visiting MyMRU > Register & Pay > Registration Access Date.

TIP:  Registration opens for continuing students in early March; new students begin registering in April.

Learn more about finding your Registration Access Date>
Find more details on how Registration Access Dates are determined.

If your Registration Access Date is not displayed, you may need to be reactivated. Learn more.

Pay your Registration Deposit

Pay your $125 non-refundable Registration Deposit (per semester) to register for the fall and winter semesters through MyMRU > Register & Pay > Pay Deposits and select Registration Deposit. No deposit is required to register for the spring or summer semester.

You will be unable to register for courses until this is paid.

TIP: Online credit card payments are the preferred deposit method because they provide the quickest access to registration. You can use either your credit card or add MRU as a payee and pay online. Learn more.

Paying your deposit via online banking will delay your registration due to manual processing. If you pay through online banking, you must complete this form to notify studentfees@mtroyal.ca that a deposit has been paid through online banking.

To pay by debit card, cash, money order, or credit card, visit the Office of the Registrar (A101).

Check if you have holds that can prevent your registration

Go to MyMRU> Before you register> Check your Registration Status. If you have a hold, learn what it means and who to contact for next steps.

Ensure you meet prerequisites

Prerequisites are courses you must have completed successfully before enrolling in certain classes. You are required to meet the course's prerequisites at the time of registration. Find out more.

Things to consider

  • You can change your registration up until the add/drop date (usually the second week of class).
  • Register for five courses and then confirm them with your Academic Advisor. It's easier for them to give feedback on a developed schedule than to start from scratch.
  • General Education (GNED) courses and electives give you flexibility to explore your interests. If you’re thinking about pursuing a minor, consider selecting courses in that subject area early — they may count toward your minor and help you make steady progress.

Helpful info when registering for your courses

Prepare for your first day

Get your class schedule

View your current or previous schedule/timetable when you log in to MyMRU> Register & Pay> Registration Landing Page> View Registration Information. Select the term you are looking for and select the print icon. This provides a general overview of your course registrations and schedule for the semester. Asynchronous courses will appear in the registration list but will not be reflected in the schedule.

TIP:  Take a screenshot of your schedule so you can easily access your classroom information and start times without logging into MyMRU.

Check our campus map for Lincoln Park or use our searchable classroom map to find your classes with ease.

Things to consider

Ensure your fees are paid in full

Your fees must be paid in full by the fee deadline, or you will be dropped from your courses. Learn more about how to pay your fees online and read our list of FAQs about fee payment at Mount Royal.

TIP:  Credit card and online banking payments may take 2-3 business days to process. If you pay by the deadline, you won’t be dropped from your courses—even if your credit card payment is still processing.

Attending class

We strongly encourage you to attend all classes you are registered in. For many courses, attendance and participation are included in the calculation of your final grade. You must follow the attendance requirements set by your instructors. Learn more if you are unable to attend

Drop or withdraw from a course

You might need to adjust your course schedule for a variety of reasons. What you need to do depends on where you are in the semester: you can drop a registered course before the add/drop deadline, but if it is after this date, you will need to withdraw and there is no refund.

Add/drop courses

You can make changes to your schedule until the last day to adjust registration (add/drop) for each semester. Make sure you meet with your Advisor to discuss any potential impacts dropping a class may have on your upcoming semesters.

When you are ready to drop your class, follow these instructions. If you have questions about how to drop a class using the system, contact the Office of the Registrar

If you wish to adjust your registration after the add/drop date, you must withdraw from your course.

Withdrawing from courses

If you wish to stop attending a class after the last date to adjust registration, you can withdraw on or before the last day to withdraw.

Before you withdraw, learn more about what it means to withdraw and how it may impact your academic status.

If you currently have student loan/grant funding, withdrawing completely or withdrawing to part-time status will affect your future funding. Check with Financial Aid.

When you are ready to withdraw from your class, follow these instructions. If you have questions about how to drop a class using the system, contact the Office of the Registrar
